Wildlife agency asks Council for bear-resistant trash cart funding

Ashley Hobbs, a bear biologist with N.C. Wildlife Resource Commission (NCWRC), told Asheville City Council that Buncombe County is a “hot spot” for human-bear conflicts, accounting for 38% of the annual statewide calls to NCWRC since 2017.
